Question

Is it allowed to go to a buzurg or a highly religious person who does a lot of ibadah and ask him to pray to Allah about my problem. And can we supplicate through an intermediary i.e through tawasul of a righteous one, living or dead e.g through Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani. And I also want to know is it permissible for men and women to visit the shrines of say Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani and other without committing any shirk and praying to Allah directly there?

Answer

To ask someone to make du`aa for you is permissible and established from the hadeeth.

Yes.

For the same reasons that women are not allowed to visit musjids they are not allowed to visit shrines. If there is open flagrant wrong taking place at the shrine then men should also refrain from going to the shrine at such a time when these wrongs take place.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

Ask Mufti Online

Fatawa SA is an independent, read-only index of fatawa already published by Mufti Online — Madrasah Ta'leemuddeen. It is not a fatwa service. For your own situation, ask the issuing Darul Ifta directly.
