Giving Azaan in the right ear of a newborn child
Question
I have heard that it is sunnah to give the Adhan in a new born babies right ear. Is this correct or is this an innovation? Can you provide some hadiths to verify that this is correct?
Answer
It is correct. This appears in the Hadith.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

باب الأذان في أذن المولود
عن عبيد الله بن أبي رافع عن ابيه قال : رأيت رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم أذن في أذن الحسن بن علي حين ولدته فاطمة بالصلاة قال ابو عيسى هذا حديث حسن صحيح والعمل في العقيقة على ما روي عن النبي صلى الله عليه و سلم من غير وجه عن الغلام شاتان مكافئتان وعن الجارية شاة وروى عن النبي صلى الله عليه و سلم أيضا أنه عق عن الحسن بشاة وقد ذهب بعض أهل العلم إلى هذا الحديث قال ابو عيسى هذا حديث حسن صحيح والعمل في العقيقة على ما روي عن النبي من غير وجه (جامع الترمذي #1514)
