Qurbaani & Halaal SlaughterLaws pertaining to Slaughtering

Question

What is the ruling regarding stunniang the animal? The process is adopted in the UK and in other countries. If the animal is stunned, will it be permissible to eat the meat of the stunned animal?

Answer

The animal should not be stunned. Stunning the animal before slaughtering it is against the sunnah. If the animal experiences alot of pain, then stunning the animal will be makrooh-e-tahreemi. However, if the animal was stunned and before it died, it was slaughtered by a Muslim according to the Shar'ee method of slaughter, the meat will be halaal.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
