Hanafi Muqtadi following a Shafi'ee Imaam in Sajda-e-Tilaawat
Question
We have a Hafiz saheb performing taraweeh for us. He is a Shafi'ee so in Surah haj he will make sajdah and in Surah saad he will not make sajdah. What should we do?
Answer
You should follow the Imam in both cases.

وإنما تفسد بمخالفته في الفروض كما بسطناه في الخزائن
قال الشامي في رد المحتار: قوله ( وإنما تفسد ) أي الصلاة بمخالفته في الفروض المراد بالمخالفة هنا عدم المتابعة أصلا بأنواعها الثلاثة المارة والفساد في الحقيقة إنما هو بترك الفرض لا بترك المتابعة لكن أسند إليها لأنه يلزم منها تركه وخص الفرض لأنه لا فساد بترك الواجب أو السنة. (رد المحتار 1/472)
