Promising that one will not commit such and such a sin again
Question
If a person makes a dua: ‘Ya ALLAH i promise i will not commit such and such a sin again’. However, after making this promise if the person again commits the sin then will he have to give kaffarah for it? Please can you also mention the amount of kaffarah?
Answer
He should make taubah for this sincerely and refrain from this sin completely. This is the kaffarah.

Fatawa SA is an independent, read-only index of fatawa already published by Mufti Online — Madrasah Ta'leemuddeen. It is not a fatwa service. For your own situation, ask the issuing Darul Ifta directly.
