Taking an education loan from the bank
Question
My friend studied engineering by taking an education loan from the bank. He has to pay back interest also after getting a job. Is earning money through this qualification haraam?
Answer
Interest is haraam and forbidden in Islam. Your friend should sincerely repent for getting involved in the sin of interest and make a firm resolve that he will not return to this sin in the future. However his earnings through engineering will be halaal provided it is not associated with any haraam.
