What the Darul Iftas say

“The Fuqaha have written that Zakaat may not be given to one’s descendants, that is, one’s children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, etc. Similarly, Zakaat cannot be given to one’s ascendants or to one’s spouse. In conclusion, it will not be permissible for the grandmother to give her Zakaat to her grandson.”

Ibn Masood — Giving Zakaah to One’s Grandson · 15 May 2024

“It will be permissible to give Zakaat hampers to Naa-Baaligh (minor) children even though their parents are non-Muslim as their Islam is recognized according to Shariah. A child who accepts Islam will no longer be regarded as Taabi’ (subservient) of his/her parents as far as his religion is concerned.”

Azaadville — Giving Zakaat To Minors (Na-Baaligh Children) Whose Parents Are Non-Muslims · 18 Nov 2021

“If the parents give the money to the child, then it will belong to the child. Zakaat is not payable upon the wealth of children. If the parents are not poor, then it is not permissible for them to use the child's money for their own benefit even if the child gives permission.”

Mufti Online — Zakaat on children's wealth and parents using their children's wealth · 4 Jun 2023

“In principle, it is permissible and virtuous for one to give Zakaat to his/her father-in-law provided that the father in law is an eligible recipient of Zakaat.”
