What the Darul Iftas say
“The statement “Quran Ki Kasam I will not go for shopping” is considered a valid oath. While such a statement is a valid and binding oath, one should avoid taking oaths on the Quran as it is not appropriate to do so. It is only appropriate to take an oath in one of the Names of Allah or one of His Attributes.”
“If it is a court requirement, one may take the oath. However, one should request that the Quraan should not be brought to the court, so that no disrespect is shown to the Quraan.”
Quotes are the opening words of each answer as published; the full answer, its conditions and references are on the fatwa page. Answers depend on the exact details of each question.
