Is wearing a ta'weez permissible?

“Hereunder is the Hadith in reference Translation: Whoever hangs (around his neck) an amulet (Taweez), indeed he has committed Shirk. If a Taweez contains words of Kufr and Shirk or one regards the Taweez to be the ultimate curer, then that is Shirk.”

“It is permissible to hang a Taweez (amulet) around the neck of a little child so that he/she may be protected from the evil gaze, with the proviso that the amulet doesn’t contain any words of Shirk or any words that are against Shariah.”

“In principle the usage of a Taweez will be permissible if the following conditions are met: 1) The Taweez must consist of words of which the meaning is known (at least to the Ulama).”

“If the contents of the taweez is permissible and the purpose for which one is wearing the taweez is also permissible and one's yaqeen (belief) is correct, then it is permissible to wear the taweez.”
