Question

I follow Hanafi school of thought and I would like to know that during Salah, is it permissible to move to the front rows or move to our left/right to fill the gaps that unfortunately come up due to late settling of the people.

Answer

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Assalaamu `alaykum waRahmatullahi Wabarakatuh

It will be permissible to move in order to fill a gap in the row in front of you or to the left or right of you. However, whilst moving to fill the gap, it will be preferable to take a step and then pause and thereafter take another step.

And Allah knows best
