Why were the footsteps of Bilaal Radiallahu Anhu heard in Jannah?
Answer
It was due to the fact that whenever he performed Wudhu (whether during the day or at night) he would perform Salaah. Many of the compilers of Hadith such as Allama Nawawi Rahimahullah have brought this narration under the chapter of performing two Rakaats after performing Wudhu which we generally refer to as ‘Tahiyyatul Wudhu.’

عن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه: أن النبي صلى الله عليه و سلم قال لبلال عند صلاة الفجر ( يا بلال حدثني بأرجى عمل عملته في الإسلام فإني سمعت دف نعليك بين يدي في الجنة ) . قال ما عملت عملا أرجى عندي أني لم أتطهر طهورا في ساعة ليل أو نهار إلا صليت بذلك الطهور ما كتب لي أن أصلي
