Congratulating parents upon the birth of their newborn child
Question
A friend has a new baby. What is the sunnah method of congratulating the person? Is saying the word 'mubarak' suitable?
Answer
Yes. You may also make dua for the new born child.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

عن الحسن البصري أن رجلا جاء إليه وعنده رجل قد ولد له غلام فقال له يهنك الفارس فقال له الحسن ما يدريك فارس هو أو حمار قال فكيف نقول قال قل بورك لك في الموهوب وشكرت الواهب وبلغ رشده ورزقت بره والله اعلم (تحفة المودود بأحكام المولود ص27)
