Zakaat on items that one intends selling which were obtained for free
Question
I obtained items for free with the intention of resale. Despite the fact that I get them for free, must Zakaat still be paid on their current market value?
Answer
Zakaat is not waajib on such items. Zakaat is waajib on items which are purchased with the intention of resale.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
