Paying off another person's debt with zakaat money
Question
If person A is in debt, can person B pay zakaat directly to the creditor? Does B have to inform A that he is paying Zakaat directly to the creditor?
Answer
He should take his consent before paying the debt on his behalf. If he does not take his consent, the zakaat will not be discharged.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
