Question

We know that there are businesses in South Africa which claim to send goods cross border but don't send it for profit gain. These goods are kept in SA and sold locally and the VAT or duties are claimed. Is this jaaiz?

Answer

We will not say that this is haraam, but Muslims should not be engaging in these types of practices.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

Ask Mufti Online

Fatawa SA is an independent, read-only index of fatawa already published by Mufti Online — Madrasah Ta'leemuddeen. It is not a fatwa service. For your own situation, ask the issuing Darul Ifta directly.
