Shellac

Is it permissible to consume shellac which is typically being used as a glazing agent in sweets and chocolates?
Answer
Hazrat Thaanwi (Rahmatullahi Alayh) mentioned the maslah relating to shellac in behishti zewar. According to Hazrat Thaanwi (Rahmatullahi Alayh) it is permissible. You may refer to a reliable halaal certifying body in whom you have confidance.
