Using wife's mahr money to pay off a debt
Question
I gave my wife R5000 cash mehar money. When I got married I did not have any debt. Now I have a R45 000 debt to pay. My wife keeps telling me to use the mehar money to pay part of the debt. Is this permissible in Islam?
Answer
If she is happy to assist you with her wealth, then it is permissible.
