Quran Khawani before marriage
Question
Can you please refer any hadith stating that there is no such concept in Islam to hold Quran Khawani before getting married, I need to show it to my in-laws as they want to hold a Quran Khawani before the wedding ceremony, as they say it is better to start it with the name of Allah. I personally do not believe in these things, as I know they have no standing in Sunnah.
Answer
This is not a sunnat practice. To believe in an action being necessary when it is not supported and proven from the hadeeth and the Qur’aan is incorrect.

عن جابر بن عبد الله قال كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إذا خطب احمرت عيناه وعلا صوته واشتد غضبه حتى كأنه منذر جيش يقول صبحكم ومساكم ويقول بعثت أنا والساعة كهاتين ويقرن بين إصبعيه السبابة والوسطى ويقول أما بعد فإن خير الحديث كتاب الله وخير الهدى هدى محمد وشر الأمور محدثاتها وكل بدعة ضلالة ثم يقول أنا أولى بكل مؤمن من نفسه من ترك مالا فلأهله ومن ترك دينا أو ضياعا فإلي وعلي (صحيح مسلم # 867)
