Engagement before marriage
Question
Please advise on an engagement. A couple wants to have an engagement.
Answer
Many of these customs have no basis in the shariah. All that is required is to confirm the proposal that was received. And this confirmation does not require a feast and invitation. It just requires some of the reliable members of the family to get the message across in a dignified way that we accept your proposal.
