Keeping cats
Question
What is the status of cats in Islam, is it Sunnah to keep them? Is there any reward attached to keeping cats?
Answer
There is no virtue mentioned in the Hadith for keeping pets. However, it is permissible for one to keep a pet (e.g. a cat), and if one feeds it halaal food and takes good care of it, one will receive reward.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
