Making the intention of going into ihraam in the plane close to the meeqaat
Question
If going for umrah with Ethiopian airlines, when one stops at the Ethiopian airport for transit, can one put on ihraam at the airport but only make niyyat of going into ihraam in the plane when the plane is flying close to Jeddah?
Answer
Yes, it is permissible to delay making the niyyat till before one passes the meeqaat. Generally, on the plane, the announcement is made before reaching the meeqaat. At that time, one may make the niyyat. However, if this airline does not make announcement on the plane, then as a precaution, one should make the niyyat when departing from Ethiopia. One may enquire from the Airlines before travel.
