Question

Knowing that giving gifts is of great merit and is encouraged in Islam... Is it permissible to participate in a game named as secret sheep for eid which people exchange gifts... since it was derived from the name secret santa and the rules etc. all are derived from the secret santa (done on Christmas).

Answer

Muslims should distance themselves from imitating Christians and non-Muslims. Why should we suffer an inferiority complex and do what these kaafirs and jahannamis are doing whereas Allah Ta`ala has termed them to be the worst of the creation. We have got our own value system and the mubaarak teaching of Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) and the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu anhum). This system brings noor, mahabbat and understanding, and the ways of kaafirs bring darkness and disgrace. May Allah Ta`ala save us.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
