Can I gift the reward of Qur'an recitation to the deceased (esaal-e-thawaab)?

“It is not permissible to hold forty day khatams upon the demise of the deceased. Forty day khatams are not established in deen and are regarded as innovated practices. Hence, holding such practices is not permissible, neither in one's house, nor out of one's house. Such practices should be totally avoided.”

“Isaale-Thawab refers to doing an act of virtue (Tawaf, Umrah etc.) and conveying the reward to others.One may include many people in the intention of Isaale-Thawab. It is advisable to make more Tawafs than multiple Umrahs.”

“The Ulama have written that making Isaal-e-Thawaab for the Ambiyaa is permitted. However, we should not make Dua for forgiveness for the Ambiyaa, rather we should make Dua for elevation of their status, as they are Masoom. [Fataawa Darul Uloom Zakariyya Pg.843 Vol.2]”

“To do any good action and pass on the reward to the deceased is permissible if no specific time, day, week or month is stipulated for it, rather there will also be tremendous benefit for the deceased.”
