Is working as a lawyer or attorney permissible?

“It is permissible for a person to pursue the legal profession and become a lawyer on condition that the following requirements are adhered to: 1) One will not be allowed to plead the case of a person whom one believes to be unjust.”

“This is haraam money and it cannot be used to pay for services. Since the lawyer's fee is in exchange of a valid service that you have taken from the lawyer, it is not permissible for you to pay him from this haraam money. The money must be given to a poor person without the intention of receiving any reward.”

“It will not be permissible to use the interest funds (accrued from the money market account) to offset lawyer’s fees, as in doing so, one will be benefitting from the interest funds, which is not permissible.”

“Assalaamu `alaykum waRahmatullahi Wabarakatoh. A law degree or a law career in itself is not prohibited. Yes where the law is abused to usurp others rights or to wrongfully trample on the rights of others- this is not permissible.”
