Is reciting or listening to the Qur'an with music permissible?

“If the nasheed was sung at the nikaah function and drums were beaten in order to enhance the nasheed and give it some extra tune, then this is not permissible as it has resemblance with music and musical tones or musical instruments.”

“All Nasheeds with music, or musical notes are Haraam. Shaytaan has deceived the Ummah into believing that it is permissible to listen to music if some Arabic words are being rendered with it, in the form of a Nasheed. This is the same as Qawwali rendered by the deviated sects.”

“1) It is permissible to have Islamic nasheeds playing during the wedding. However, the nasheeds should be free of any music whatsoever. There is no basis for Islamic music. All music is haram.”

“The usage of musical instruments has been ruled as prohibited in the Shari’ah. The ruling will thus remain that of prohibition despite the usage of such tones being under the banner of “Anasheed”. As a result, the listening of such Anasheed will be ruled as impermissible.”
