Is listening to music haraam? What about nasheeds?

“If the nasheed was sung at the nikaah function and drums were beaten in order to enhance the nasheed and give it some extra tune, then this is not permissible as it has resemblance with music and musical tones or musical instruments.”

“Regarding music, the jurists have written that all forms of music are Haraam to such an extent that, if one produces a musical song by hitting a stick, then this too is impermissible.”

“The Fuqaha (Jurists) have ruled that all types of music are prohibited, regardless of it being produced using physical instruments, digital means, or any other technological methods.”

“1.It is not permissible to listen to a song (permissible nasheeds) with clapping even if there is no music. The clapping of the hands in a song is a clear indication of lahw (futile activity) and entertainment.”
