Question

Assalamu alaikum. Is it permissible for a middle-man to take income of bribes?

Scenario: Amr works for Home Affairs. Zaid is the middleman. Zaid has contact with Amr. Amr can fast process visa applications on Zaids’ request for a fee of R.5000 per application. Amr can fast process applications and grant visas, even if all paperwork is above board or not. Zaid charges his clients R.8000, saying he can get the application sorted out. Zaid pays R.5000 to Amr. Will the R.3000 be Halal income for Zaid?

Jazakallah Khairan
