Women shaving in nifaas

Question

My female cousin recently gave birth, but she did not shave before that. Now, She wishes to shave. She is still in nifaas. She is feeling uncomfortable. She still has about 2 weeks for nifaas to finish, and her hair is long. It is already more than 40 days since the last she shaved.

Please let me know Shukran.

Our response to your query is as follows:

She should remove the hair. It is not permissible to leave it for longer than 40 days

الأفضل أن يقلم أظفاره ويحفي شاربه ويحلق عانته وينظف بدنه بالاغتسال في كل أسبوع مرة فإن لم يفعل ففي كل خمسة عشر يوما ولا يعذر في تركه وراء الأربعين فالأسبوع هو الأفضل والخمسة عشر الأوسط والأربعون الأبعد ولا عذر فيما وراء الأربعين ويستحق الوعيد كذا في القنية (الفتاوى الهندية 5:357)

عَن أَنَسٍ رضي الله عنه قَالَ وُقِّتَ لنا في قَصِّ الشَّارِبِ، وتَقْلِيمِ الأظْفارِ، ونَتْفِ الإبِطِ، وحَلْقِ العانَةِ، أنْ لا نَتْرُكَ أكْثَرَ مِن أرْبَعِينَ لَيْلَةً (صحيح مسلم)
